Dal was born and raised in California and has lived there all his life.
He grew up not knowing much about Japan other than sushi, tempura and teriyaki.
But after meeting and eventually marrying Luna, he has learned more and more about Japan such as its language, history and especially the culinary culture.
In fact, he has gained a liking to natto !
(Natto is fermented gooey soybeans, which is very good for your health!)
Luna was born and raised in Japan and after her work in Tokyo, she wanted to extend her studies and ended up in California.
This eventually led her to meeting Dal. When she completed her degree, though she moved back to Japan, they committed to a long-distance relationship.
Dal visited Japan to propose to her at a beach without knowing it was the same beach that her parents had their first day trip when they were dating, so it turned out to be a very romantic coincidence to seal their oath.
